IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-127 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DESIGNATING PLACEMENT OF NO STOPPING SIGNS <br />(WEST SIDE OF E. 14TH STREET BETWEEN BAYFAIR DRIVE AND THE CITY’S SOUTHERN BORDER) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the current unlimited parking permission on the west side of E. 14th Street between <br />Bayfair Drive and the City’s southern border contributes towards blight, produces sight distance safety <br />issues and creates path of travel obstructions along the sidewalk contrary to the Americans with <br />Disabilities Act; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, E. 14th Street is managed by Caltrans and parking signs along E. 14th Street are <br />maintained by the City of San Leandro; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, within State Right of Way, California Vehicle Code Section 22506 requires that the <br />City Council pass a resolution that approves parking or stopping restrictions and that a certified copy of <br />the resolution be sent to the State Department of Transportation along with a formal request to establish <br />said parking or stopping restrictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 22506 further requires that said resolution approving <br />parking or stopping restrictions on state highways clearly state the limits of parking or stopping <br />restriction in each direction of the highway. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />That the west side of E. 14th Street between Bayfair Drive and the City’s southern border is <br />designated for placement of NO STOPPING ANY TIME signs pursuant to San Leandro Municipal Code <br />Section 6-1-500; and <br /> <br />That on the west side of E. 14th all vehicles shall be prohibited from parking or stopping between <br />Bayfair Drive and the City’s southern border. <br /> <br />Introduced by Councilmember Aguilar and passed and adopted this 21st day of October 2024 by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Aguilar, Ballew, Bowen, Simon, Viveros-Walton and Mayor González (6) <br /> <br />NOES: None (0) <br /> <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Azevedo (1) <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> Kelly B.
