IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-148 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE A CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY (OTS), SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM (STEP) GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$60,000 INTO ACCOUNT 150-21-162; AND TO EXECUTE GRANT AGREEMENT NO. PT25058 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) was established in 1967, and is responsible for administering <br />the California Traffic Safety Plan, under the direction of the Governor’s Highway Safety Representative; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding from the Office of Traffic Safety can support a broad range of traffic safety operations <br />for state and local law enforcement, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of distracted and impaired <br />driving; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department applied for a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) <br />grant aimed at improving efforts to decrease fatalities and injuries in accidents involving alcohol, drugs, and other <br />major crash factors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department has been awarded $60,000 in grant funding. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the City Council accepts the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant award of <br />$60,000; and <br /> <br />2. That an appropriation of $60,000 in Account 150-21-162 is approved; and <br /> <br />3. That the City Manager or her designee is authorized to execute all documents, and take all actions <br />necessary to effect the purpose and intent of this Resolution. <br /> <br /> Introduced by Councilmember Ballew and passed and adopted this 18th day of November 2024 by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Aguilar, Azevedo, Ballew, Bowen, Simon, Viveros-Walton, and Mayor González (7) <br /> <br />NOES: None (0) <br /> <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: ____________________________________ <br /> Kelly B.
