IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-164 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE REDISTRIBUTION OF REMAINING TRAVEL AND TRAINING FUNDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro City Council has previously allocated funds for travel and <br />training purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council amended their handbook in 2022 to include a policy that states any <br />unused Travel and Training Budget funds shall be pooled and held for one fiscal year; and <br />WHEREAS, after reviewing the current balance of remaining funds in the travel and training <br />budget, it has been determined that there are unused funds remaining at the end of the 2023/2024 <br />Fiscal Year; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council believes that a fair and equitable redistribution of these remaining <br />funds is in the best interest of the members of the Council and will help support their professional <br />development and duties; and <br />WHEREAS, it is proposed that the remaining funds for this and subsequent fiscal years be <br />equally divided among each Councilmember. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of San Leandro City Council that: <br />1. The remaining balance of the travel and training funds be redistributed among the <br />Councilmembers. <br /> <br />2. The total remaining funds shall be divided equally among all sitting Councilmembers, as of the <br />date of this resolution. <br /> <br />3. Each Councilmember will be entitled to use their redistributed share of the funds for travel, <br />training, or related professional development activities, in accordance with existing guidelines, <br />only after they exhaust their regular travel and training budget first. <br /> <br />4. The redistribution of funds shall be executed immediately following the adoption of this <br />resolution, and all Councilmembers will be notified of the final amount allotted to them in the <br />annual fiscal year-end report on Councilmember travel and training expenditures. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />Introduced by Councilmember Ballew and passed and adopted this 9th day of December 2024 by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Ballew, Bowen, Viveros-Walton, and Mayor González (4) <br /> <br />NOES: Councilmembers Aguilar, Azevedo, Vice Mayor Simon (3) <br />
