IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2025-014 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE 2024 <br />DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ) EDWARD BYRNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) AWARD IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $31,619 AND TO APPROPRIATE THESE FUNDS INTO ACCOUNT 150-21-062 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant Program is the leading <br />source of federal funding for criminal justice initiatives at the state and local levels, and is administered <br />by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the JAG program supports a broad range of state and local projects aimed at crime <br />prevention, crime control, and the enhancement of the criminal justice system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) submitted a request for grant funding <br />through the County of Alameda for JAG funding to replace safety and communications equipment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the SLPD was awarded Department of Justice JAG funding in the amount of $31,619 <br />for the project proposed less $3,161.90 for administrative fees paid to the Alameda County Sheriff’s <br />Office for managing the grant. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />That the City Council accepts the grant funds and authorizes the City Manager or her designee to <br />execute all documents related to the grant award of $31,619; and <br /> <br />That an appropriation of $28,457.10 in Account #150-21-052 is approved; and <br /> <br />That the balance of $3,161.90 shall be reserved by and to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office for <br />grant administration fees and not part of the City’s share of the grant award. <br /> <br />Introduced by Councilmember Azevedo and passed and adopted this 3rd day of March 2025 by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmember Aguilar, Azevedo, Boldt, Bowen, Simon, Viveros-Walton, Mayor González (7) <br /> <br />NOES: None (0) <br /> <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> Kelly B.
