Reso 2025-026 Declare Surplus and Authorize Auction

IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION NO. 2025-026 RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO DECLARE TEN VEHICLES AS SURPLUS AND APPROVE THE SALE OF SAID SURPLUS ASSETS AT PUBLIC AUCTION BY U.S. AUCTIONS WHEREAS, the Police Department currently has ten fleet vehicles that have been retired and taken out of service; and WHEREAS, the ten vehicles require maintenance at a cost which exceeds the vehicles’ replacement values, and they no longer have any utility to the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the ten vehicles have been stored at the City corporation yard and stripped of all equipment such as radios, computers, sirens, overhead lights, etc.; and WHEREAS, U.S. Auctions offers to auction all ten vehicles and transport them out of the corporation yard to get them ready for auction on a date to be determined; and WHEREAS, Section 1-6-500 of the San Leandro Municipal Code states: “The Purchasing Agent shall sell or exchange, in a manner designed to serve the best interest of the City, equipment, materials and supplies which have become unsuitable or unnecessary for City purposes.”; and WHEREAS, the sale of these ten vehicles will generate one-time revenue yet to be determined. The funds generated by the sale of the ten vehicles will be returned to the Equipment Repair and Maintenance Fund, account number 690-3844. NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: Following public notice as may be required by law and in accordance with §1-6-500 of the San Leandro Municipal Code, the declaration of surplus and authorization of the sale of ten vehicles at public auction by U.S. Auctions is approved and the City Manager or her designee is authorized to contract with U.S. Auctions to dispose of the surplus vehicles; and The City Manager is authorized to take all actions and execute all documents necessary to effect the purpose and intent of this Resolution.
