IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2025-026 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO DECLARE TEN VEHICLES AS SURPLUS AND <br />APPROVE THE SALE OF SAID SURPLUS ASSETS AT PUBLIC AUCTION BY U.S. AUCTIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Police Department currently has ten fleet vehicles that have been retired and <br />taken out of service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the ten vehicles require maintenance at a cost which exceeds the vehicles’ <br />replacement values, and they no longer have any utility to the Police Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the ten vehicles have been stored at the City corporation yard and stripped of all <br />equipment such as radios, computers, sirens, overhead lights, etc.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, U.S. Auctions offers to auction all ten vehicles and transport them out of the <br />corporation yard to get them ready for auction on a date to be determined; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 1-6-500 of the San Leandro Municipal Code states: “The Purchasing Agent <br />shall sell or exchange, in a manner designed to serve the best interest of the City, equipment, materials <br />and supplies which have become unsuitable or unnecessary for City purposes.”; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sale of these ten vehicles will generate one-time revenue yet to be determined. <br />The funds generated by the sale of the ten vehicles will be returned to the Equipment Repair and <br />Maintenance Fund, account number 690-3844. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />Following public notice as may be required by law and in accordance with §1-6-500 of the San <br />Leandro Municipal Code, the declaration of surplus and authorization of the sale of ten vehicles at public <br />auction by U.S. Auctions is approved and the City Manager or her designee is authorized to contract with <br />U.S. Auctions to dispose of the surplus vehicles; and <br /> <br />The City Manager is authorized to take all actions and execute all documents necessary to effect <br />the purpose and intent of this Resolution. <br /> <br />Introduced by Councilmember Aguilar and passed and adopted this 17th day of March 2025 by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmember Aguilar, Azevedo, Boldt, Bowen, Simon, Viveros-Walton, Mayor González (7) <br /> <br />NOES: None (0) <br /> <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br />
