IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2025-067 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AN EXTREME HEAT <br />AND COMMUNITY RESILIENCE PROGRAM GRANT FROM THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF LAND USE <br />AND CLIMATE INNOVATION, EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT, AND TO APPROPRIATE $244,545 INTO <br />A NEWLY CREATED GRANT ACCOUNT FOR THE PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro was awarded an Extreme Heat and Community Resilience <br />Program Small Planning Grant from the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation in the <br />amount of $244,545; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the grant-funded project aims to foster community resilience to extreme heat <br />through community-led tree and urban greening initiatives; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the project is a collaborative effort involving the City of San Leandro, Student <br />Conservation Association, Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, and Alameda County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the project will identify and strengthen community partnerships for key areas of urban <br />forest management, including workforce development, tree planting and design, volunteer coordination, <br />park and residential planting, education and outreach, and maintenance and tree care; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the planned outcomes for the project align with the goals and implementation <br />strategies identified in the adopted Tree Master Plan. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program Grant in the amount of $244,545 is <br />hereby accepted; and <br /> <br />2. That the draft grant agreement, substantially in the form presented, is approved and the City <br />Manager is authorized to execute the agreement; and <br /> <br />3. That the City Manager shall take all necessary actions and execute all documents required to <br />implement the purpose and intent of this resolution; and <br /> <br />4. That $244,545 will be appropriated into a newly created 150 Special Grant Funds account <br />titled Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
