City of San Leandro <br />City Council <br />Meeting Date: January 6, 2025 <br />Agenda Number: 5.c. <br />Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />File Number: 24-591 <br />File Type: Staff Report <br />Adopt a Resolution to Amend the City of San Leandro Master Salary Schedule Effective January 1, 2025 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to amend the City of San Leandro ’s <br />Master Salary Schedule to reflect changes effective January 1, 2025. Changes include salary <br />increases for the Mayor, Councilmembers, and Non -Represented Part-Time employees. The <br />Mayor and Councilmembers salary increases were approved by ordinance on December 18, <br />2023. Salary increases for Non -Represented Part-Time employees are being adjusted to comply <br />with the state’s 2025 minimum wage. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of San Leandro maintains a publicly available Master Salary Schedule, which includes <br />the pay rate for all City classifications. The Master Salary Schedule must be updated and <br />approved when new salaries are effective. Revisions to the salary schedule include the actions <br />below: <br />·Ordinance No. 2023-014 sets the Councilmembers’ salary at $1,900 per month, or <br />$22,800 annually beginning January 1, 2025. <br />·Ordinance No. 2023-015 sets the Mayor’s salary at $3,800 per month, or $45,600 annually <br />beginning January 1, 2025. <br />·Effective January 1, 2025, California’s minimum wage rate will increase to $16.50 per <br />hour, which will require a wage adjustment to the City of San Leandro ’s Non-Represented <br />Part-Time classifications. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Effective January 1, 2025, the State of California has established the minimum wage rate to be <br />$16.50 per hour. To comply with the state ’s minimum wage, a salary adjustment will be applied to <br />those classifications that are currently below $16.50 per hour (Recreation Leader, Office <br />Assistant I, Maintenance Assistant I, Library Aide, and High School Intern). The adjustment will <br />increase these hourly rates from $16.31 to $16.50 per hour. Subsequently, the remaining <br />Non-Represented classifications will receive equivalent increases to maintain internal equity and <br />avoid compaction.
