January 5, 2026City Council Minutes <br />ACTION ITEMS10. <br />10a.25-583 Motion to Designate a Vice Mayor to Serve for a Period of One Year <br />Pursuant to City Charter Section 310 <br />There were no public comments. <br />Councilmember Viveros-Walton was nominated to serve as Vice Mayor by <br />Councilmember Boldt. The nomination was seconded by Vice Mayor Bowen. <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Boldt, seconded by Vice Mayor Bowen, <br />to designate Councilmember Viveros-Walton to serve as Vice Mayor for a <br />period of one year pursuant to City Charter Section 310. The motion CARRIED <br />by the following vote: <br />Aye:Aguilar Jr., Azevedo, González III, Bowen, Viveros-Walton, Boldt6 - <br />Abstain:Simon1 - <br />Enactment No: Min Order 2026-001 <br />10b.25-627 Potential Action by Minute Order to Waive or Not Waive Attorney-Client <br />Privilege Applicable to Investigation Report of Vice-Mayor Bowen’s <br />Complaint to the Human Resources Department <br />Comments were made by seven people. <br />A motion was made Councilmember Simon, seconded by Councilmember <br />Aguilar, to call the question on the motion. The motion CARRIED by the <br />following vote: <br />Ayes: 5 - Aguilar, Azevedo, Boldt, Bowen, Simon <br />Noes: 2 - Viveros-Walton, González <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Simon, seconded by Councilmember <br />Aguilar, to: 1) To release the whole investigation report including exhibits, <br />without redactions; 2) To release the summary of workplace investigations <br />costs; and 3) Agendize a discussion to consider restorative justice mediation for <br />the City Council.
