Tragically, three San Leandro police officers have been
killed in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, in honor of all the fallen officers and their families, U.S. flags in the City of San Leandro
should be flown at half-staff during National Police Week.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan González, Mayor of the City of San Leandro, do hereby proclaim May 15-21,
2023, as “National Police Week” in the City of San Leandro and encourage residents to join the Police
Department in honoring our three fallen officers: Fred R. Haller, Donald F. Spingola, and Nels Daniel Niemi,
who through their courageous deeds, made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community. Hence, we ask
all residents in our community to visit our Public Safety Memorial located in front of the San Leandro Police
Department.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of San Leandro to be affixed this 1st day of May 2023
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 4/26/2023
