IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2026-018 <br />RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS TO <br />RECEIVE GIFT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $67,378 FROM THE SAN LEANDRO PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />FOUNDATION, AS THE FIDUCIARY AGENT OF A GIFT FROM FORMER LIBRARY COMMISSIONER <br />DONNA REED, FOR THE PURPOSE OF LIBRARY ENHANCEMENTS <br />WHEREAS, The San Leandro Public Library Foundation was established in 1992 to raise funds to <br />support the library and Project Literacy; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library Foundation has received a generous gift from <br />the estate of Donna B. Reed in the amount of $67,378; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the gift from Donna B. Reed has been designated to enhance the Library in general; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the first disbursement of a multi-disbursement gift is for an enhancement project of <br />the children’s area of the Main Library for a Technology focused space; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, future disbursements will be provided for other projects with San Leandro Public <br />Library Foundation approval; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library Foundation will transfer the funds to the San Leandro <br />Public Library to spend accordingly. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />1. That City Council accepts, and the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents and <br />take all actions necessary related to the donation from the San Leandro Library Foundation for <br />the Donna Reed Gift totaling $67,378; and <br /> <br />2. That the gift will be disbursed in multiple payments over Fiscal Years 2026 and 2027, the first of <br />which is for $31,089.73 for the Main Library children’s area for furniture and technology; and <br />3. That an appropriation of the funds of $67,378 in revenue account <br />#010-3803 and expenditure accounts #010-68-108 for Project #1, #010-68-109 for Project #2, <br />and #010-68-110 for Project #3 is approved. <br /> <br />Introduced by Councilmember Aguilar and passed and adopted this 2nd day of March 2026 by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmember Aguilar, Bowen, Boldt, Simon, Viveros-Walton, Mayor González (6) <br /> <br />NOES: None (0)
