<br />IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2006-009 <br /> <br />(2822) <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 13, <br />SECTION 2-13-140 OF THE SAN LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR <br />AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE <br />MEDICAL SERVICES TAX (EMS TAX) BASED ON THE ANNUAL CONSUMER <br />PRICE INDEX (CPI) INCREASE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-13-140 of the San Leandro Municipal Code, the <br />Emergency Medical Services Tax (EMS Tax) shall be adjusted annually be an amount not to <br />exceed the Consumer Price Index (All-Urban Consumers, San Francisco-Bay Area); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adjust the tax per benefit unit from the current <br />rate of$12.87 to $13.24, based on the 2.9% annual CPI increase. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does ORDAIN as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2-13-140 of the San Leandro Municipal Code is amended to read <br /> <br />"2-13-140 AMOUNT OF TAX <br />The tax per "benefit unit" (BU) is thirteen dollars and twenty-four cents ($13.24) per <br />year. The number of benefit units shall be determined by the use to which the owner or occupant <br />has put the property, as follows: <br /> <br />One living unit <br />Two to five living units <br />Six or more living units <br />One-story store <br />Store first floor w/office/apts. above <br />Miscellaneous commercial <br />Department store <br />Discount house <br />Restaurant <br />Shopping center <br />Supermarket <br />Comm/indus. condominium <br />Warehouse <br />Light industry <br />Heavy industry <br />Miscellaneous industrial <br />Nurseries <br /> <br />1BU <br />3BU <br />1 BU per unit <br />2BU <br />4BU <br />2BU <br />5BU <br />5BU <br />4BU <br />7BU <br />4BU <br />4BU <br />2BU <br />4BU <br />6BU <br />2BU <br />2BU <br /> <br />
