<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />January 2, 2007 <br /> <br />FROM: Uchenna Udemezue, Director <br />Engineering and Transportation epartment <br /> <br />BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer Y <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR LEWELLING BOULEVARD LANDSCAPE <br />MEDIAN, PROJECT NO. 05-210-38-231 <br /> <br />This project includes the construction of landscaped medians, street trees, unit pavers, a bike lane <br />and a lighted crosswalk warning system at Andover Street. <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon <br />completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one year maintenance period, <br />authorization of the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The project is intended to address traffic speed, improve pedestrian and vehicle safety, and <br />improve the appearance of the existing roadway. <br /> <br />Analysis <br /> <br />The project constructed landscaped medians along Lewelling Boulevard from Wicks Boulevard <br />to Sedgeman Street, which included a combination of street trees, other planting materials, and <br />unit pavers. Other improvements included a bike lane, a lighted crosswalk warning system at <br />Andover Street and improved street signage. <br /> <br />Current City Council Policy <br /> <br />.
