TilE <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council review and approve the attached resolution <br />which establishes the car allowance lor the Mayor at $250 per month. <br /> <br />BACKGROIJND <br /> <br />As specified in the San Leandro Administrative Code, the City Council receives a car <br />allowance of $125 per month to cover the cost of using a personal vehicle for City-related <br />business. The cmrcnt code provides a car allowance of $375 per month lor the Mayor or <br />three times the amount rnembers of the City Council receive. <br /> <br />On January 2,2007, in accordance with City Council policy, the salary of the Mayor was <br />reduced from three times to two times the salary of the members of the City Council. <br />Mayor Santos has requested and supports a reduction in his monthly car allowance to an <br />alnount that is two times the car allowance for the City Council. <br /> <br />Current City Council Policv <br />Not Applicable <br /> <br />City Council CommiUcc Review and Action <br />Not Applicable <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The annuali7:ed cost savings for the reduction in the Mayor's monthly car allowance is <br />$1,500. <br />
