<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />March 5, 2007 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Uchenna Udemezue, Directo <br />Engineering and Transportatio <br /> <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR THE DAVIS STREET/DOOLITTLE DRIVE <br />INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 04-210-38-249 <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The work includes widening the roadway at the Davis Street/Doolittle Drive intersection <br />providing additional lanes and modifying the traffic signals compatible to the improvements. <br /> <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filling of the Notice of Completion, and upon <br />completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one year maintenance period, hereby <br />authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />A Traffic Impact Study was prepared as part of the Bayside Business Park development located <br />at 2501 Davis Street. The study identified the need for modifications to the Davis Street/ <br />Doolittle Drive intersection to address cumulative traffic impacts from the existing and new <br />businesses in the area. The specific improvements to the intersection to address traffic growth <br />were identified, and as required by the development agreement, a design for these improvements <br />was completed by the business park developer. Construction of these improvements was then <br />performed by the City. <br /> <br />Analysis <br /> <br />On April 18, 2005 by Resolution No. 2005-049 the City Council awarded the construction <br />contract to Gradetech, Inc., the responsible low bidder. <br /> <br />The improvements included the widening of the intersection of Davis StreetIDoolittle Drive to <br />provide additional through lanes and turning lanes, and improve traffic flow. Also included are <br />improvements to the traffic signals and the reconfiguration of the signal system consistent with <br />the new layout. <br />
