IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2004-012 (1055) <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR <br />THE CONDUCT OF RUN-OFF ELECTIONS <br />WHEREAS, Section 610 of Article VI of the City Charter provides that the Council, by <br />ordinance, may provide for the method of conducting municipal elections; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 225(b) of Article II of the City Charter provides that in the event <br />that no candidate for the offices of the Mayor or City Council receives at least 50% plus one of <br />the votes cast for that office, the City Council shall provide for arun-off vote to determine the <br />person elected. <br />The City Council of the City of San Leandro does ORDAIN as follows: <br />Section 1. The City of San Leandro shall conduct any run-off elections necessary <br />pursuant to Charter Section 225(b) among the two persons having the highest number of votes <br />for that office. The run-off elections shall be conducted by a mailed ballot 90 to 130 days after <br />the General Election. <br />Section 2. The run-off elections shall be conducted pursuant to the procedures set forth <br />for the conduct of mail ballot elections in California Elections Code Section 4100 et seq. unless <br />otherwise provided by this ordinance. <br />Section 3. Ordinance No. 2002-09 is hereby repealed in its entirety. <br />Section 4.
