CITY OF SAN LEANDRO
CITY COUNCIL RULES AND COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Apri13, 2008
4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
San Leandro City Hall
835 East 14th Street
San Leandro, California
(City Manager's Large Conference Room)
HIGHLIGHTS
Committee Members
present: Mayor Tony Santos (Chair), Councilmember Souza
City Staff present: Marian Handa, Vivian Chiu
Public present: Martin Ricard/Daily Review
1. Demonstration of Laserfiche Weblink
City Clerk Handa reported that this item is a status update of a project that was first presented to
the Committee in November 2006. At that time, the City Clerk's Office had just begun to
implement the Laserfiche document imaging system, and it is now preparing to make records
stored in the system available on the City's website through the use of Weblink, aweb-publishing
tool. She noted that making the records available on the website should reduce the number of
requests the City receives for this information.
Ms. Handa and Deputy City Clerk Chiu gave a short PowerPoint presentation, describing
Laserfiche and Weblink, highlighting the benefits of digitally imaging City records and making
them available online, listing the departments that are currently using Laserfiche, demonstrating
how to access records with Weblink, and outlining the next steps in the project.
Committee Member Souza inquired about whether the City Council staff reports could be linked
to the online City Council agenda, pointing out that this would facilitate access to the reports by
the user. Ms. Handa indicated that this may be possible, depending upon which agenda
automation software the City selects.
