The project also will install twenty-six (26) Speed Feedback Signs at thirteen <br />(13) locations citywide. <br />Staff recommends award of contract to Columbia Electric in the amount $356,900 for the <br />subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2007, the City received a grant through the Safe Routes to School Program to install <br />in-pavement flashing crosswalk lights at four (4) school crosswalks in the city. This <br />program is intended to provide funding to local agencies for safety-related improvements <br />to facilities along designated Routes to School In addition, the City received a separate <br />grant to purchase twenty-six (26) Speed Feedback Signs that will be installed at thirteen <br />(13) other locations (see attached list). The project will install in-pavement lighted <br />crosswalks along the frontages of Roosevelt, Corvallis, McKinley and Jefferson <br />elementary schools and at both the Main library and Manor Branch library. <br />Analysis <br />A total of six (6) bids were received on June 25, 2008. The bids ranged from $356,900 to <br />$494,171, with Columbia Electric submitting the lowest bid in the amount of $356,900, <br />which has been determined to be a responsive bid. <br />
