CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: September 2, 2008 <br />TO: John Jermanis, City Manager <br />FROM: Uchenna Udemezue, P.E., Director ~ ~ <br />Engineering and Transportation Dep nt <br />BY: Kenneth Joseph, P.E., City Engineer ~~ <br />r <br />SUBJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />Jo ermanis <br />Ci nager <br />RESOLUTION FOR APPROPRIATION OF PROPOSITION 1B FUNDS FOR <br />ANNUAL OVERLAY/ REHABILITATION 2007-2008, PROJECT NO. 07-144-36-086 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends appropriation of funds from Proposition 1B funding in the amount of <br />$1.3 million for the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Analysis <br />In April 2008, the State of California released $1,310,325.14 to the City of San Leandro <br />as part of the proceeds of the Proposition 1 B Bond sale. Proposition 1 B is a voter- <br />approvedbond for the rehabilitation oftransportation-related facilities. The City received <br />these funds on April 27, 2008. <br />Construction of the Annual Overlay/Rehabilitation 2007-2008 will begin in late <br />September 2008. The project will include the rehabilitation of: Adams Avenue between <br />Doolittle Drive and Bigge Street; Marina Boulevard between Doolittle Drive and the <br />Union Pacific Railroad Tracks; and Dolores Avenue between East 14r~ Street and Santa <br />Rosa Avenue. The approved budget for this project is not sufficient for the complete <br />repair. Proposition 1 B funds will supplement the budget for proper rehabilitation of these <br />streets to guarantee a minimum serviceable life span. <br />Current City Council Policy <br />• Regular maintenance of City streets to ensure safe and efficient operation <br />
