Update on the new LINKS Business Improvement District Advisory Committee Member Selection: Business Development Manager Battenberg introduced the item explaining that the LINKS Business Improvement District (BID) requires an Advisory Board to oversee the BID, including review of the annual financial report and recommendations of the annual assessment. The Advisory Board is made up of five members -the Engineering Director, the Finance Director and three business owners or their representatives who pay the BID assessment. Battenberg explained that the Board currently has one vacancy due to the departure of the representative from the Rolls Wood Group. Senior Development Project Specialist Penaranda explained that in early September the City mailed letters recruiting interested persons from all of the businesses that pay the BID assessment. (Businesses within the BID employing five or fewer, landlords, home occupations, and non-profit companies are exempt from the BID fees). The City received interest from five individuals. Four of the five were interviewed by staff (the fifth did not attend a scheduled interview). One of the candidate's business only employs three persons, thus is exempt from the BID fee, leaving three applicants for consideration.
