Budget Update <br />Superintendent Lim distributed a handout (attached) and listed the District's Phase I Total <br />Budget Reductions of $3,001,135 for FY 2009-10, and $3,193,592 for FY 2010-11. She also <br />stated that at the District's last Board Meeting, a Phase 2 was identified with frozen flexibility <br />money, which documented another reduction of $829,000. <br />Board Chair Katz-Lacabe clarified that the use of educational funding is designated for certain <br />categories and that the District is not allowed to spend for other purposes. Superintendent Lim <br />listed the categories, such as Eden Area Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Adult School, <br />Maintenance, EIA (Economically Impact Aid), which are protected. A discussion followed <br />regarding reduced budget impacts on the District. Board Chair Katz-Lacabe stated that the <br />District hopes to avoid any layoffs and that it may offer retirement incentives to qualified <br />employees. He added that District action depends on the outcome of the State proposed budget <br />propositions for the May 19 election. Board Member Mack -Rose stated that the District may <br />receive formula -based stimulus money. <br />Mayor Santos noted that the City's budget presentation given to the Finance Committee and to <br />the City Council will not necessarily cause the Council to make any decisions. The Finance <br />Committee will be meeting again on March 24. He said that many City services are in jeopardy, <br />
