-,, IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANLEANDRO RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 5 (1215/1270) RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT OF $277,500 FOR THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT II~TITIATIVE (EDI) SPECIAL GRANT PROJECT AWARD RELATED TO THE DOOLITTLE DRIVE DESIGN PORTION OF THE AIRPORT GATEWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, in September 1997, the City of San Leandro and the City of Oakland adopted the Oakland/San Leandro Joint Revitalization Plan; and WHEREAS, in February 1999, an Airport Gateway Urban Design Concept was developed as part of the Joint Revitalization Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro, the City of Oakland and the Port of Oakland agreed to prepare design and construction plans for the three major thoroughfares into the airport, Doolittle Drive, Hegenberger Road and 98~' Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro, the City of Oakland and the Port of Oakland agreed to identify funds for the airport area capital improvement project; and WHEREAS, as lead agency for the Doolittle Drive portion of the airport area improvement project the City of San Leandro applied for and was awarded a fiscal year 2000, $277,500 HUD Economic Development Initiative Special Project Grant; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has signed the HUD Economic Development Initiative Special Project grant agreement number B-00-SP-CA-0070 that will provide funding for the Doolittle Drive portion of the airport area improvement project. WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro will utilize the HUD grants funds to hire a design consultant and cover associated costs to prepare the Doolittle Drive construction drawings. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: That the City Manager is authorized to create the program to execute the HUD grant agreement for $277,500 to be used for design services to prepare construction drawings for the Doolittle Drive portion of the Airport Gateway Improvement Project.
