+~- <br />' IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION N0.2000- 13 (1212/2368/1925) <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AN <br />ABAG GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $60,000 TO FUND THE TECHNICAL ANALYSIS <br />FOR A BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AND BIKE TRAIL BETWEEN <br />OYSTER BAY REGIONAL PARK AND THE PORT OF OAKLAND, AND THE <br />CITY COUNCIL ENDORSEMENT OF THE PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the California State Legislature and Governor Gray Davis have approved an <br />appropriation of $2.5 million to the State Coastal Conservancy for a San Francisco Bay Trail <br />Grant Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) has been named <br />administrator of the State Coastal Conservancy; and <br />WHEREAS, the last remaining gap to the Martin Luther King Junior Shoreline to Oyster <br />Bay Trail is within the City of San Leandro; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a limited amount of funding available for trail planning, design and <br />non-construction projects; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro needs to complete a technical analysis for a <br />bicycle/pedestrian bridge and a bike trail between the existing Oyster Bay Trail on the south side <br />of the sloughs and the Port of Oakland, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to apply for an ABAG grant in <br />the amount of $60,000 to fund the technical analysis of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge and a bike <br />trail between Oyster Bay Regional Park and the Port of Oakland, and <br />That the City Council endorses the final gap closure of the Martin Luther King Junior <br />Shoreline to Oyster Bay Trail through the City of San Leandro and the Port of Oakland. <br />
