Discussion Regarding Oro Loma Memorandum of Understanding - Notice of Request for <br />Service Enhancements <br />Public Works Director Bakaldin informed the Committee that as part of the 2006 Memorandum of <br />Understanding with the Oro Loma Sanitary District the City has until September 1, 2011 to <br />provide a list of desired service enhancements to be included in Oro Loma's next Solid Waste and <br />Recycling Franchise Agreement. Bakaldin discussed the structure of garbage and recycling service <br />in San Leandro explaining that Alameda County Industries (ACI) provides service to the <br />neighborhoods in the northern portion of the City while Oro Loma, through its subcontractor <br />Waste Management, provides service to the southern portion of the City. Bakaldin provided the <br />Committee with a table comparing the services provided by ACI and Oro Loma and highlighted <br />the service enhancements City staff would be requesting Oro Loma provide as part of their next <br />Solid Waste and Recycling Franchise Agreement (both attached). <br />The Committee discussed the differences between the services provided by ACI Industries and Oro <br />Loma and what service enhancements they would like to see provided in the next Solid Waste and <br />Recycling Franchise Agreement. <br />Recommendation: The Committee recommended that in addition to the service <br />enhancements requested by City staff, Oro Loma provide free pickup to the public schools <br />
