Continued Discussion Regarding the Instrument Landing System at North Field City Manager John Jermanis gave an overview of the issues regarding the instrument landing system (ILS) as it relates to the Settlement Agreement between the Port of Oakland and the City. He summarized the community's concerns as saying some believe it will increase capacity at the North Field. The purpose of the discussion was to help the Committee understand the aspects of the issue. Committee Member Nardine referred to the July 15, 2004 letter from Aviation Director Steve Grossman which responded to a number of questions from the City. The correspondence used a number of technical terms and made references to different studies and agreements. Committee Member Nardine suggested that a chronological list of the airport's plans, EIRs and various agreements would help to clarify issues. Carole Wedl from the airport's Noise and Environmental Compliance Office answered a number of the Committee Member's questions.
