PUBLIC COMMENTS
A. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, requested the City Council make a
motion indicating they would not vote on the Financial Plan tonight but
would leave it open for further discussion.
B. Carol Hopkins, Goodwill Cab and Van Service, 1632 East 14th Street,
Oakland, spoke regarding the Paratransit Contract. She said she was
happy the contract would not be for an exclusive provider. She said
other cities separate out taxi and van contracts because not all taxi
companies can provide vans. She said providing both taxis and vans
gives a greater pool for seniors to chose from.
In response to a question from Council Member Perry, Nancy Hillis,
Recreation-Human Resources Department, said the contract would be
reviewed every few months and the City will be working with the County
on additional alternatives.
C. Rusty Watson, Muni Cab Corporation, said her company can handle both
taxis and vans and they will enjoy working under this contract with the
City.
•
