MINUTES SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 19, 1992 The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Vice Mayor Faria presiding. 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 3. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa ABSENT: Mayor Karp Mayor Karp is attending the Metropolitan Transportation Commission Meeting in San Diego. 4. PRESENTATIONS A. Presentation of Check from the Optimist Club of San Leandro for Community Police Bicycle Patrol . Shirley Himenez, President of the San Leandro Optimist Club, presented a check for $800 in support of the City's Police Officer Bicycle Patrol Program. Council Members Kerr and Perry, Members of the Optimist Club, thanked the Club on behalf of the City. They said the Bicycle Program has proven to be highly effective, and they applauded the Club's support of the Program. 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS A. Barbara Samaniego, 2240 Strang Avenue, spoke on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, in response to a recent editorial in the newspaper regarding the Chamber' s Workshop. She read a "Letter to the Editor" which she intends to send to the newspaper. She said the City Council has participated in the Workshop for many years and said she hopes it will continue to do so. She said the Workshop is a very useful forum and an opportunity for the members of the Chamber of Commerce to learn more about business activities in the City. Council Member Kerr said the article in the newspaper was misleading and contained many inaccuracies. He said the subjects to be discussed at the Workshop have to do with planning the future of San Leandro. He said the Workshop is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and is not a
