MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> OCTOBER 19, 1992 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Vice Mayor Faria <br /> presiding. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Karp <br /> Mayor Karp is attending the Metropolitan Transportation Commission Meeting <br /> in San Diego. <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Presentation of Check from the Optimist Club of San Leandro for <br /> Community Police Bicycle Patrol . <br /> Shirley Himenez, President of the San Leandro Optimist Club, presented <br /> a check for $800 in support of the City's Police Officer Bicycle Patrol <br /> Program. <br /> Council Members Kerr and Perry, Members of the Optimist Club, thanked <br /> the Club on behalf of the City. They said the Bicycle Program has <br /> proven to be highly effective, and they applauded the Club's support of <br /> the Program. <br /> 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> A. Barbara Samaniego, 2240 Strang Avenue, spoke on behalf of the Chamber <br /> of Commerce, in response to a recent editorial in the newspaper <br /> regarding the Chamber' s Workshop. She read a "Letter to the Editor" <br /> which she intends to send to the newspaper. She said the City Council <br /> has participated in the Workshop for many years and said she hopes it <br /> will continue to do so. She said the Workshop is a very useful forum <br /> and an opportunity for the members of the Chamber of Commerce to learn <br /> more about business activities in the City. <br /> Council Member Kerr said the article in the newspaper was misleading <br /> and contained many inaccuracies. He said the subjects to be discussed <br /> at the Workshop have to do with planning the future of San Leandro. He <br /> said the Workshop is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and is not a <br />
