San Leandro, California, September 17, 1990 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. The meeting <br /> was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the meeting of September 4, 1990 were approved as corrected. <br /> PRESENTATIONS <br /> a. Presentation of the Rental Payment from the San Leandro Historical Railway <br /> Society Commemorating the Completion of the Renovation of the Railway Depot <br /> at Thrasher Park. William B. Alexander, Jr. , representing the Society, <br /> presented their check for the lease and said they were happy to have this <br /> opportunity to save part of the history of San Leandro. They also presented <br /> a key to the depot to the City Manager and the Mayor. Mayor Karp noted that <br /> the old train depot, constructed in 1890, had been moved to Thrasher Park <br /> at no cost to the City, and the Historical Society had all of the work <br /> involved in moving and restoring the facility done at their expense. Mr. <br /> Alexander invited everyone to the December 8 and 9, 1990, First Annual <br />► Christmas Show at the depot. Mr. Alexander also presented a facsimile of <br /> the check to Mayor Karp. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> a. Letters Opposing Development of Fairmont Ridge were noted: <br /> - Doris Standish, 22427 Victory Drive, Hayward. <br /> - Gailmarie Kimmel , 6560 Saroni Drive, Oakland. <br /> b. Letter from Kathy Pearson Opposing Termination of Recycling Programs at <br /> Local Grocery Stores and Recommending Curbside Recycling. Mayor Karp noted <br /> the letter that had been sent to Ms. Pearson from staff. <br />► <br /> COMMUNICATIONS FROM BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> a. Letter from Human Resources Commission Recommending Six-Month Contract <br /> Renewal for Newman Smalley Corporation (dba Veteran's Yellow Cab Company) . <br /> Dick Randall , City Manager, noted that the Resolution on the City Council 's <br /> Agenda provided for a six-month renewal to the Paratransit Contract. He also <br /> said staff is reviewing a proposal from an independent company to provide <br /> group shopping trips to supplement the individual taxi demands. <br />
