San Leandro, California, October 15, 1990 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. The meeting <br /> was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Corbett. Mayor Karp noted that Council Member Corbett <br /> was on vacation. <br /> MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the meeting of October 1 , 1990 were approved as submitted. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> a. Letter from John Schiavenza, President of the Board of Directors of the San <br /> Leandro Golf Club, Regarding Condition of the Golf Course. <br /> b. Letter from Muriel Munro, President of the San Leandro Marina Women's Golf <br /> Club, Regarding Condition of the Golf Course. <br /> 0 The above letters were referred to the Recreation and Parks Commission and <br /> to staff. <br />• Council Member Santos stated he has received a number of comments from both <br /> golf clubs and that the issues raised should be investigated. <br /> Dick Randall , City Manager, noted the staff response to the letters and said <br /> that many of the concerns noted in the letters have already been addressed. <br /> He said some of the statements made in the letters are untrue. He said the <br /> City has high quality golf courses and has taken this matter seriously. <br /> Council Member Glaze asked if secondary treated reclaimed waste water could <br /> be used on the golf courses. Dick Randall said there are restrictions <br /> related to the use of reclaimed water adjacent to residential areas, and that <br /> staff is investigating this matter. <br /> Council Member Perry noted that conflicts arise when City crews are <br /> performing maintenance activities at the same time that golfers are trying <br /> to play on the course. She asked if a schedule could be worked out to deal <br /> with this. <br />• Council Member Polvorosa stated his concerns regarding comments that people <br /> may not be paying and are driving golf carts on greens. <br /> Dick Randall reiterated that the City is responsive to concerns related to <br /> the golf course and will continue to improve services, including the <br /> possibility of additional training for course marshals. <br />
