San Leandro, California, November 29, 1990 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in Special Session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 5:30 p.m. The meeting <br /> was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> RESOLUTIONS <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 90-237 (1123) <br /> RESOLUTION CONDEMNING TERRORISM AND OFFERING <br /> REWARD FOR APPREHENSION OF PERPETRATOR <br /> Introduced by Council Member Santos who moved its adoption, seconded by Council <br /> Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa and Mayor Karp, and carried by <br /> the following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> Lee Ness, 2321 Bel v edere Avenue, c ommended the City Council for adopting this <br /> Resolution. <br /> Bob Berger, 13475 Bancroft Avenue, owner of Fashion Furniture and member of the <br /> Planning Commission. Mr. Berger said he and his wife were distraught when they <br /> were told that the fire bomb had destroyed the stained-glass window that had been <br /> installed in the temple by his family in memory of his father. He and his wife <br /> were adding $500 to the reward for the apprehension of the perpetrator. <br /> Mayor Karp noted that he was also donating $500 to the reward fund. He said <br /> the combined reward now stood at $16, 100, and consisted of $5,000 from the City, <br /> $5,000 from Alameda County, $2,500 from the Jewish Federation, $2,500 from the <br /> Anti-Defamation League, $500 from Mr. and Mrs. Berger, $500 from Mayor Karp, and <br /> $100 from an anonymous contributor. <br /> The City Council reaffirmed its stand against crimes of hate and intolerance of <br /> any kind and said such crimes must be stopped here and now. <br />
