City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: March 7, 2016 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:16-052 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.G. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a Resolution Accepting the Work for the Downtown Garage <br />Parking Sign Project, Project No. 2013.0341 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council accept the work and authorize the City Manager to file <br />the Notice of Completion, release the performance and payment bonds and release the <br />maintenance bond upon successful completion of the one-year maintenance period. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The exterior of the Downtown Parking Garage was designed to complement and fit with <br />adjacent downtown building architecture and not appear like a typical parking structure. To <br />increase parking usage at this location, improved and attractive signage was desired to make <br />the facility more inviting and the entrances easier to find. Two new LED lighted wall signs <br />stating “PARK” at the Estudillo Avenue and the Callan Avenue entrances and one new LED <br />lighted edge sign stating “ENTRY” at the Callan Avenue entrance were installed. <br />Analysis <br />Construction is complete. The work was inspected and complies with the contract documents <br />and City standards. <br />Previous Actions <br />On February 1, 2016, by Resolution No. 2016-010, the City Council authorized a Contract <br />Change Order of 14% ($5,961.98) for the Downtown Parking Garage Sign Project, Project No. <br />2013.0341. <br />On June 2, 2014, by Resolution No. 2014-051, the City Council awarded a contract for the <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 3/1/2016
