The
fundamental goal of the Act is to reach and maintain high recycling rates for all California
Refund Value beverage containers - aluminum, glass, plastic and bi-metal, thereby reducing
the beverage container component of litter in the State.
Awards from previous Beverage Container Recycling City and County Payment Program
(Payment Program) grants have been used to fund public education outreach pieces that
promote beverage container recycling, in addition to funding the purchase of recycling
containers for parks, City facilities and small businesses. The Payment Program has also
been the primary source of funding for litter abatement activities on Interstate 880. The
highway is cleaned four times per month, north and southbound between the Floresta
Boulevard overcrossing and the Davis Street exit, including the Marina Boulevard and Davis
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 4/26/2016
