City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: February 6, 2017 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:17-039 ACTION ITEMS <br />Agenda Number:10.B. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Jeff Kay <br />Assistant City Manager <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for Resolution Amending the City Manager Salary Schedule. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to amend the salary schedule for <br />the City Manager. <br />BACKGROUND <br />As approved by the City Council on February 26, 2015, the employment agreement of the City <br />Manager’s base salary shall be adjusted annually by the Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical <br />Area (CMSA) Consumer Price Index (commonly known and referred to as the “CPI”) covering <br />the San Francisco Area. As reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CPI increased <br />3.5% percent over the last 12 months. <br /><http://www.bls.gov/regions/west/news-release/home.htm> <br />The salary schedule is in accordance with California Code of Regulations Section 570.5, <br />which requires that salary schedules be in a format that identifies the position title, the pay <br />rate, the effective date, the range, and be duly approved and adopted by our governing body. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />The 3.5% CPI increase represents an annual increase of $8,280, which has been budgeted. <br />PREPARED BY: Emily Hung, Human Resources Manager, City Manager's Office <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 1/31/2017 <br />143
