r <br />IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 98 - 15 (2639/1980) <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE NEW ALAMEDA COUNTY TRANSPORTATION <br />PLAN AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF <br />SUPERVISORS TO PLACE A PROPOSITION TO EXTEND THE ONE-HALF CENT <br />SALES TAX ON THE JUNE 1998 BALLOT <br />Recitals <br />WHEREAS, the Alameda County Transportation Authority has approved a new <br />Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan pursuant to the authority of the State <br />Public Utilities Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Transportation Expenditure Plan was developed by an <br />Expenditure Plan Development Committee composed of 40 Alameda County residents <br />and representatives and approved by a Steering Committee composed of 11 elected <br />officials from Alameda County Cities, the Board of Supervisors, the Alameda -Contra <br />Costa Transit District (AC Transit) and the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART); and <br />WHEREAS, the new Transportation Expenditure Plan totaling $1.14 billion <br />consists of programs and projects, that are essential to the movement of people and goods <br />throughout Alameda County, will maintain local streets and roads, restore and enhance <br />transit and paratransit services, and provide critical assistance in solving significant <br />transportation and congestion problems of Alameda County; and <br />WHEREAS, the interests of the City of San Leandro and its citizens will be <br />benefited by the implementation of the new Transportation Expenditure Plan and the <br />extension of the one-half of one percent retail sales/use tax to support the new <br />Transportation Expenditure Plan; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of San Leandro <br />does hereby approve the new Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan; <br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of San Leandro <br />recommends that the Alameda County Board of Supervisors place a proposition on the <br />June 1998 ballot to authorize the extension of the one-half of one percent retail sales/use <br />tax to fund the programs and projects described in the new Alameda County <br />Transportation Expenditure Plan. <br />
