City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: November 19, 2018 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:18-528 ACTION ITEMS <br />Agenda Number:10.A. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />BY:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for the City Council of the City of San Leandro to Adopt an <br />Ordinance that Authorizes an Amendment to the Contract Between the City of <br />San Leandro and the Board of Administration of the California Public <br />Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt an ordinance that authorizes an amendment to the <br />contract between the City Council and the Board of Administration of the California Public <br />Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) to provide Section 20516 (2% Employee Cost <br />Sharing) for the Executive Management Group in accordance with the City Manager employment <br />agreement <br />BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION <br />On October 1, 2018, the City Council adopted a resolution that formed a separate Executive <br />Management Group consisting of the City Manager. The City Council also adopted a resolution of <br />intention and first reading of an ordinance to approve an amendment to the contract between the <br />Board of Administration of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and <br />the San Leandro City Council. These steps are required to implement the 2% cost sharing <br />provision in accordance with the City Manager employment agreement. <br />The final step in the process is final reading and approval of the ordinance to amend the <br />CalPERS contract. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />There is no fiscal impact with the approval of this ordinance.
