City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: September 8, 2020 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:20-374 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.H. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:Susan Hsieh <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a City of San Leandro City Council Resolution to Authorize the <br />City Manager to Execute Agreements with the California Department of <br />Transportation and to Approve the Receipt of Grant Funding from the Fiscal Year <br />2020-2021 Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program for the <br />Crosstown Class IV Corridors Study <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />The City was conditionally awarded a Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant to study the <br />implementation of Class IV bicycle lanes on Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street in the <br />Crosstown Class IV Corridors Study (Study). The California Department of Transportation <br />(Caltrans) requires a resolution, signed by the City Council that includes the grant project title and <br />job title of the person authorized to enter into a contract with Caltrans to meet the general <br />conditions for award of the Grant. <br />Staff recommends the following action: <br />·Authorize the City Manager to execute agreements with Caltrans to receive $349,248 in <br />grant funding from the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program and provide a <br />minimum local match amount of $45,252 for a total of $394,500 for the Crosstown Class <br />IV Corridors Study. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program was created to support the state’s goal <br />to provide a safe, sustainable, integrated, and efficient transportation system to enhance <br />California’s economy and livability. The program encourages and supports local planning <br />projects that will benefit the multi-modal transportation system, improve public health, social <br />equity, environmental justice, the environment, and provide other important community benefits. <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/2/2020 <br />2371
