TO:City Council FROM:Fran Robustelli City Manager BY:City Council FINANCE REVIEW:Not Applicable TITLE:Proclaiming May 1-7, 2022 as Municipal Clerks Week May 1-7, 2022 as Municipal Clerks Week WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks Week was initiated in 1969 and proclamations were given in 1984 and 1996 by Presidents Ronald Regan and Bill Clinton, respectively, and sponsored by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks; and WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks play a vital role in local government and provide a professional link between the community, the local governing bodies, and agencies of government at other levels; and WHEREAS, Municipal and Deputy Clerks’ main function is to serve as the council’s foundation including, but not limited to, preparing agendas, taking minutes, maintaining ordinance and resolution files, keeping the municipality’s historical records, and serving as the clearinghouse for information about the local government; and WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal service to all; and WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks in San Leandro continually strive to improve the administration through participation in educational programs, seminars, workshops and the annual meetings of the state of California, Alameda County, and international professional organizations. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Pauline Russo Cutter, Mayor of San Leandro, do hereby proclaim May 1-7, 2022 as “Municipal Clerk’s Week” throughout the city of San Leandro and thank them for the vital services they perform and their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent.
