Honoring HERS Breast Cancer Foundation’s 25th Anniversary <br />WHEREAS, the relationship between communities and nonprofit organizations is a vital and <br />interdependent one, deriving its strength from the quantity and quality of civic involvement and <br />dedication of those who engage with such organizations; and <br />WHEREAS, one such organization is the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation that was founded in <br />1998 by Tricia McMahon, Cheryl Malone, and Nancy Vitale, who were motivated by a shared <br />concern for women and worked to fill a gap in the continuum of care for breast cancer patients; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, their organization has worked tirelessly to support individuals healing from breast <br />cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of their patients’ financial <br />status; and <br />WHEREAS, an average of 30 clients per month are provided with assessments and services at the <br />HERS clinic that is located in San Leandro; and <br />WHEREAS, each year HERS Breast Cancer Foundation typically completes an average of 2,300 <br />patient visits and distributes $175,000 in post-surgical products to under-served breast cancer <br />patients throughout San Leandro and the surrounding region. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Juan Gonzalez III, Mayor of the City of <br />San Leandro, hereby congratulate and honor the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation on their <br />organization’s 25th anniversary and commend them for the vital role they play in improving the <br />quality of life for breast cancer patients, and extend my best wishes for their continued success. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused <br />the Seal of the City of San Leandro to be affixed this 20th day of March <br />2023.
