IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2015-014 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS IN <br /> THE AMOUNT OF $200,000, APPROPRIATE $50,000 FROM ASSET FORFEITURE <br /> FUNDS, AND EXECUTE A REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br /> CITY OF SAN LEANDRO AND THE CITY OF FREMONT TO PURCHASE THE <br /> MEDEVAC ARMORED RESCUE VEHICLE <br /> WHEREAS, during critical incidents, a rescue vehicle is essential to safely resolve <br /> situations, rescue community members,render medical aid and to transport victims away from <br /> any threat; and <br /> WHEREAS,the San Leandro Police Department currently does not have a rescue vehicle <br /> and has borrowed similar vehicles from other police agencies in the past to safely resolve <br /> incidents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the purchase of a LENCO MedEvac armored rescue vehicle would provide <br /> staff with an armored vehicle that can be used to safely rescue community members in duress, <br /> provide protection to first responders including, fire, police and medics, rescue staff members in <br /> duress and provide a means to transport staff to and from hazardous situations where public <br /> safety is jeopardized. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. To accept a State Homeland Security Grant award totaling $200,000; and <br /> 2. That a sole source determination, pursuant to subdivision (c)(3) of California <br /> Public Contract Code section 3400, is made, and that the City Manager or his designee is hereby <br /> authorized to execute all documents to effect the purchase of a LENCO MedEvac armored <br /> rescue vehicle from the LENCO Company of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; and <br /> 3. That an expenditure of up to $50,000 from Asset Forfeiture funds is authorized <br /> and appropriated to assist with the purchase; and <br /> 4. That the City Manager negotiate and execute a$50,000reimbursement agreement <br /> with the City of Fremont for its financial contribution towards the MedEvac armored rescue <br /> vehicle purchase. . <br /> ***** <br />
