MINUTES City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-June 6, 2005 Page 23 Councilmember Grant commented that there is a new Chinese restaurant on the corner of 136th and East 14th Street which has an abundance of boxes near their trash bin. She requested that stafflook into the matter. Councilmember Starosciak commented regarding the Sister City visitation. She noted that at the Human Relations Committee meeting, there was a question regarding whether the Mayor would be making a Sister City visit. Mayor Young stated that she met with Assistant City Manager Steve Hollister regarding this matter and, at this point in time, does not plan to attend. Councilmember Starosciak thanked Councilmembers Stephens and Grant for co-sponsoring the Relay for Life team and Mayor Young for walking in the late evening hours. She reported that the San Leandro Relay for Life was held on May 21 and 22,2005 and raised $192,000 for the American Cancer Society. Councilmember Starosciak commented regarding the Bayside Groundwater Project. She reported that the Community Liaison group will be meeting on June 8. Since she is no longer a representative on the group, she indicated that she is looking for a potential candidate to replace her. Mayor Young commented that the City Council has traditionally taken a break in the month of August. However, she indicated that an action needs to be taken to approve the agreement for the Manor Pool project. She suggested holding a meeting on August 1. It was the consensus ofthe Council to hold a meeting on August 1,2005. Mayor Young commented that she would like to adjourn tonight's meeting in memory of Mrs. Mary Jones. 13.
