<br />MINUTES Page 15 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Economic Development Agency, San Leandro Housing Finance <br />Corporation, San Leandro Parking Authority, San Leandro Public Financing Authority, and San Leandro <br />Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-June 20, 2005 <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos reported that at the last meeting of the Area Agency on Aging, <br />the Agency adopted its new 5- Year Plan and reviewed its needs assessment study. Over <br />5,000 participated in the study, which revealed the highest needs among seniors are <br />improved health care, transportation and socialization. Mayor Young noted that she <br />relayed Councilmember Santos' concern regarding the Agency's membership for North <br />County to the Alameda County Mayors Conference. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that, as a member of the Alameda County Transportation <br />Authority (ACT A), she makes appointments to the Citizens Advisory Committee. One <br />of the current appointees, Gary Kruger, will be leaving the Committee after serving for <br />6 years. Mayor Young asked everyone in attendance to let her know of they know of <br />anyone living in San Leandro who might be interested in serving on the Committee. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Facilities Committee Meeting of May 25,2005. Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos commented regarding the handout provided by Mr. Perez. He noted <br />that the printout was outdated, and he did not believe this situation is occurring now. He <br />mentioned a recent incident in which the instrument landing system went out, and the Port of <br />Oakland failed to inform the City that jet traffic was shifted to another runway. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak thanked City Manager Jermanis for his proactive stance in <br />addressing the fireworks problem and gave kudos to the Police, City Manager's Office and <br />Public Works Departments for their preparations. She stated that she looks forward to <br />hearing the results at the next meeting. Councilmember Starosciak commented on the great <br />work done by City Manager Jermanis this year. <br /> <br />Mayor Young noted that the City's response to concerns about fireworks was originally <br />requested by Councilmember Nardine and that she should be acknowledged for that effort. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Badger thanked City Manager Jermanis for building a diverse City workforce and <br />assisting the Council in finding solutions to difficult problems. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Badger requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of Tom <br />Michell, who helped open Marina High School and was a Physical Education teacher, varsity <br />football coach and Director of Athletics. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced the following presentations made since the last regular meeting: <br /> <br />.
