Report on Closed Session Actions Taken <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that Congress has passed the reauthorization of the federal <br />transportation funding bill. The plan contains several local earmarks, such as the <br />construction of the bicycle/pedestrian bridge at Oyster Bay Regional Park, the 1-880 <br />overpass at Davis Street, the 1-580 interchange improvements in Castro Valley, the <br />continuation of the widening of Highway 238 between 1-580 and 1-880, and the AC <br />Transit bus rapid transit corridor. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine reported that the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement <br />District received $198,000 which was allocated from the Governor's budget to combat <br />the West Nile virus. Two birds in San Leandro have tested positive for the virus. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos asked about the possibility of getting funding for Bus Line 82. <br />Mayor Young suggested contacting AC District Representative Dolores Jaquez. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that National Night Out is tomorrow night, and she encouraged <br />Councilmembers to participate. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented that District 4 resident Helen Walter died in a house <br />fire last week. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos commented that John Becker was appointed City Manager for the <br />City of Newark. John is a graduate of Pacific High School and the son of Don Becker, former <br />San Leandro Police Chief. Mayor Young offered to write a letter of congratulations to John <br />Becker on behalf of the City Council. <br />
