ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />A. Matter of Discussion Regarding Local Campaign Finance Regulations (provides <br />information to assist Council in its discussion and determination as to its interest in <br />pursuing campaign contribution and/or expenditure limits for local elections). <br /> <br />. Minute Order No. 2005-041, Motion to Direct Staff to Prepare an Ordinance <br />Rescinding Ordinance No. 97-022 Establishing a Voluntary Campaign <br />Expenditure Limit for Elections to City Offices. (1413) <br /> <br />The City Council directed staff to prepare an ordinance rescinding <br />Ordinance No. 97-022 establishing a voluntary campaign expenditure limit <br />for elections to City offices. <br /> <br />MfS/C Santos and Badger. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />Mayor Young asked if the Council was interested in giving direction to the Rules and <br />Communications Committee regarding this subject. There was no consensus of the <br />Council to do so. Ms. Williams noted that staffwill return with an ordinance rescinding <br />Ordinance No. 97-022. <br /> <br />B. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken <br /> <br />Ms. Williams reported that the City Council held a closed session earlier this evening to <br />discuss two items related to the Westgate Extension project. Actions were taken to <br />approve settlements in two eminent domain cases that were filed in Alameda County <br />Superior Court. In the first case, City of San Leandro vs. Case Equipment Corporation, <br />the City Council, by unanimous vote, authorized a settlement in the amount of $74,000 <br />to Case Equipment. In the second case, City of San Leandro vs. Insured Transporters, <br />Inc., the City Council, by unanimous vote, authorized a settlement in the amount of <br />$463,654.02 to the property owner, Insured Transporters, and $50,000 to the tenant, MV <br />Transportation. Ms. Williams noted that the settlements will be funded from Measure B <br />Transportation funds and, pursuant to Council's direction, the City Attorney will <br />proceed to settle the matters accordingly. <br /> <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine provided a report on the current number of reported cases of <br />West Nile Virus in Alameda County. <br /> <br />
