<br />authorized in writing by the individual employees concerned on forms currently <br />accepted by the Finance Director for such deductions. <br /> <br />B. The City agrees to provide the Union the name, department, job class, and deduction <br />status of all unit employees on a monthly basis. <br /> <br />2.2 Maintenance of Membership <br /> <br />A. Union membership is not a mandatory condition of employment for any employee <br />covered by this agreement. However, any employee covered by this agreement who <br />is an Union member, or becomes an Union member, shall continue to pay to the <br />Union those dues or fees regularly charged members of the Union in good standing <br />for the life of this agreement. <br /> <br />B. Every employee who is a member of the Union shall have the right to withdraw from <br />membership during the last twenty (20) days of this Agreement. An employee who <br />has properly withdrawn membership as provided herein shall not be subject to the <br />provisions of section B.l. <br /> <br />2.3 Service Fee <br /> <br />A. Deductions <br /> <br />Pursuant to State law, Unit employees have by secret ballot, voted to implement <br />Agency Shop. <br /> <br />All employees in the unit who have not authorized an Union dues deduction shall <br />within the thirty (30) day period following notification of their obligation under this <br />agreement execute an authorization for the payroll deduction of one of the following: <br />(1) Union dues; (2) an agency fee in an amount not to exceed the standard initiation <br />fee, periodic dues, and general assessments of the organization; or (3) if he/she <br />qualifies, a charity fee equal to the agency fee to a tax-exempt charitable organization <br />that has been agreed to. <br /> <br />To qualify for the designated charity fee deduction, an employee must certify to the <br />Union that he/she is a member of a bona fide religion, body or sect which has <br />historically held conscientious objections to joining or financially supporting public <br />employee organizations. <br /> <br />Such exempt unit employees will be required to submit to the Union a notarized letter <br />certifying that person's membership in such a religion, body or sect, signed by an <br />official of the bona fide religion, body or sect. <br /> <br />If an employee fails to authorize one of the deductions, the City will deduct the <br />agency fee amount from the employee's paycheck. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />
