Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br /> <br />Two members of the San Leandro Youth Advisory Commission led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />B. Roll Call <br /> <br />PRESENT: Members Badger, Grant, Santos, Starosciak, Stephens; Mayor Young <br /> <br />ABSENT: Member Nardine <br /> <br />2. PRESENT ATIONS/RECOGNITIONS <br /> <br />Youth Advisory Commission Member Rachel Whyte, District 5, gave an update to the <br />Council of the Y AC's activities, including the recent Youth Summit, planning for their year- <br />end celebration, and recruiting next year's commissioners. <br /> <br />Without objection from the Council, Mayor Young took Item 2.C. out of order. <br /> <br />C. Resolution No. 2006-030, Resolution Appointing Member to Recreation and Parks <br />Commission for San Lorenzo Unified School District Representation,----- <br />Barbara Sidari. (1020) <br /> <br />M/S/C Grant and Santos. Ayes: 5; Noes: 0; Abstain: 1 (Starosciak); Absent: 1 <br />(Nardine) <br /> <br />Newly-appointed Commissioner Barbara Sidari took the Oath of Office administered by <br />City Clerk Marian Handa. <br /> <br />Ms. Sidari expressed interest in meeting with Councilmembers Starosciak and Nardine to <br />discuss her representation on the Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced that she, Vice Mayor Badger and the Executive Director of the <br />Oakland Coliseum raised the Oakland A's flag on the flagpole at Root Park. She issued a <br />proclamation declaring April 3, 2006 as "Oakland Athletics Day" in San Leandro. <br /> <br />A. Proclamation of April 2006 as Earthquake Preparedness Month in San Leandro. <br /> <br />Community Relations Representative Kathy Ornelas accepted the proclamation. <br /> <br />B. Proclamation of April 2006 as Voter Education Month in San Leandro. <br />
