June 23, 2006 950 Lee Avenue San Leandro, CA 94577-2935 City of San Leandro Planning Commission 835 East 14 Street San Leandro, CA 94577 Dear Commissioners, On June 20, Garden Terrace home owners met with David Langon. We met to discuss, and try to reach a compromise plan for the development of the property adjacent to Garden Terrace. The compromise plan, we discussed with Mr. Langon, was a plan to rearrange the new houses so they would not so adversely affect Garden Terrace home owners. Two slight variances would be required. Mr. Langon seemed to support the compromise plan we proposed and we all departed in a happy mood. In the compromise plan the Garden Terrace home owners would have to make two big sacrifices: 1. They would have to give up their beautiful views of the San Leandro - Oakland Hills. 2. They would give up the park, which they had talked abou~ at the South end of the development. They would notJ howevet;, have to look at a tall ugly stucco wall from their living room windows. Instead.) they would have a view of the front of the new homes at the North end. The Garden Terrace home owners at each end of the building, would still have to look at the near by stucco walls from their bedroom windows. Probably this view would be similar to the view Chair Kleebauer said she has ITom her bedroom windows. From our living room windows, however, all of us would have a view of the front of the new houses at the North end. Again, probably similar to what the Chair has at her San Leandro home. We were not asking for a Bay-o- Vista type view from living room windows, only a pleasant view of the ITont of the new houses at the North end. Perhaps Chair Kleebauer would understand our point of view better if she could imagine being told she would have to give up her view of her neighbors house across the street and instead look out at a 35 foot stucco wall from her living room picture windows. Evidently, most of the Commissioners either did not hear Lester Williams present- tation, misunderstood it, or chose to ignore it. We ask that you now look at the plans Mr. Williams submitted and reconsider your decision about them. We would appreciate a response from you. Respectfully Yours,. ~;~~1
