<br />MINUTES Page 13 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-September 5, 2006 <br /> <br />Councihnember Nardine reported that the fence on Fremont Street is the City's responsibility, <br />and City staff have contacted the residents on whose property the fence is lying. Assistant City <br />Manager Steve Hollister reported on the status of the fence replacement and will have City <br />crews check into safety and security issues at the site. <br /> <br />Councihnember Starsociak asked about the status of the fence on Lewelling Boulevard <br />between Farnsworth and Andover, which is the property owner's responsibility. Staff will <br />look into the matter. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos commented on the Letter to the Editor in the Daily Review from <br />Charles Lott regarding the status of the sound wall on 1-580 from Estudillo to 141 st Street. <br />Mayor Young suggested the City Council invite staff from the Congestion Management <br />Agency (CMA) to a future meeting to provide an update on the progress of the project. There <br />was consensus ofthe Council to do so. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that since the City Council and staff have been working on the <br />issue of monster homes for some time, it is important to bring the issue forward for discussion <br />soon. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that she issued a Proclamation declaring September 17-23, 2006 as <br />"United States Constitution Week" in the City of San Leandro, in honor of the 219th <br />anniversary ofthe signing of the U.S. Constitution. <br /> <br />Mayor Young indicated that she would be adjourning the meeting in the memory of several <br />individuals: Margaret Bain, who was a relative of her "adopted" dad; Ruth Wightman, a <br />longtime San Leandro resident and dog lover; Thelma Luciano; Charles Wesley Robertshaw, <br />who was employed by the City for 37 years as an Engineering Inspector; Ernest Leland <br />Nelson, who worked for the City for 28 years as a Chief Electrical Inspector and Building <br />Regulations Superintendent; and Charles Vincent Gebhardt, who was the former Deputy Fire <br />Chief of San Leandro. Mayor Young credited her assistant, Denice Moughon, for researching <br />and bringing many ofthese items to her attention. She noted that both Ms. Moughon and City <br />Manager John Jermanis will receive their pins for 35 years of City service this November. <br /> <br />13.
