Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported on the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CAS A) <br />meeting she attended in Monterey. She reported that she attended the AB 1234 Ethics <br />Training offered at the meeting and brought back the training materials to share with <br />staff. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported on a workshop entitled "Fiduciary Responsibilities <br />of Elected Officials" which she attended with Councilmember Nardine. The workshop <br />was a Councilmembers Academy Advanced Leadership Workshop offered at the <br />League of California Cities Conference in Monterey. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine reported on the Ethics Training and other sessions she attended <br />at the LOCC Conference in Monterey. She filed her certificate of completion with the <br />City Clerk and brought back ethics resources for the City Council office. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos reported that he also attended the LOCC Conference and <br />completed the Ethics Training. <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens reported that he also attended the LOCC Conference and <br />completed the Ethics Training. <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger reported that he also attended the LOCC Conference and <br />completed the Ethics Training. <br /> <br />C. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Airport Committee and Port of Oakland Aviation Committee Joint Meeting of <br />July 24,2006. Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Grant and Councilmember Nardine reported that they attended a meeting <br />on the Bayfair TaD. Staff will provide information on the meeting at a later date. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine commented on the loss of businesses on Alvarado and Teagarden <br />Streets. She requested that Council receive an update on the goals for business retention and <br />new business attraction for this fiscal year. Mayor Young suggested that the matter be <br />referred to the Business Development Committee. There was consensus from the Council to <br />do so. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented on fences that are down on Fremont Street and <br />Lewelling Boulevard, and she expressed concern for the safety of residents in those areas. <br />
