<br />Gap Grant Program Application <br />Cycle #3 (06/07 - 07/08) <br /> <br />Page 13 of 26 <br /> <br />Training consists of classroom instruction, supervised "Behind- <br />the-Wheel" training, and Cadet Training which is provided in <br />service under the supervision of a certified veteran driver. <br />Combining these teaching methodologies, the training <br />modules consist of Information about: Paratransit vehicles, <br />vehicle inspections, introductory transit vehicle maneuvers, <br />intermediate vehicle maneuvers, special road conditions, city <br />and freeway driving, special driving problems that may be <br />encountered while delivering service, defensive driving <br />techniques, personal health awarness and its impact on job <br />performance, introduction to driver sensitivity, awareness and <br />communciation, advanced driver sensitivity, awareness and <br />communciation, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and <br />emergency management (including first aide and CPR <br />training). Special units also include: passenger assistance <br />training, wheelchair lift securement procedures, on-board <br />wheel-chair securement procedures, post-accident re- <br />training, and ongoing refresher driver training. Drivers are <br />evaluated at least every 6 months. <br /> <br />D. Do you randomly test your drivers to alcohol and drug use? <br />D No [ZJ Yes ~ If yes, please describe: Contractor's serving <br />under the City's paratransit program are required to <br />participate in the Pull Notice Program where drivers are <br />included in a pool of individuals that are randomly chosen for <br />alcohol and drug testing. <br /> <br />E. Do you have an ongoing vehicle maintenance program? <br />D No [3J Yes ~ If yes, please describe: Preventative <br />maintenance, which complies with manufacturer <br />maintenance requirements, is performed on each vehicle <br />within each 3,000 miles or 90 days, whichever occurs first. All <br />found defects are documented and corrected prior to <br />returning a vehicle to service. Annual emission/opacity <br />inspections are preformed on each vehicle to meet all <br />applicable clean air standards. Heating and Air Conditioning <br />systems are maintained to perform as required. If found to be <br />out of order, the vehicle is pulled until repairs are completed. <br />Wheechair lift equipment is included as part of the <br />preventative maintenance program. <br /> <br />F.
