<br />November 2006 Runoff Election Rcsults <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Deccmber 18,2006 <br /> <br />As required by the Elections Code of the State of California, an Official Canvass has been <br />perfonned and a Statement of Election Results is being prepared by the ROV and will be <br />submitted to the City. A resolution accepting the Statement of Election Results and declaring the <br />results of the election has been prepared for the Council's adoption. <br /> <br />Current City Council Policy <br />Section 225(b) of the Charter of the City of San Leandro requires a successful candidate for <br />elective office to receive at least 50% plus one of the votes cast for that office. In the event that <br />no candidate receives 50% plus one of the votes cast for that office, the Charter requires the City <br />Council to provide for a runoff vote to deternline the person elected. <br /> <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />On July 17, 2006, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2006-093, calling a Special <br />Municipal Run-Off Election, to be held on November 7, 2006, in consolidation with the <br />Statewide General Election, among the two persons receiving the highest number of votes for the <br />office of Mayor, and among the two persons receiving the highest number of votes for the office <br />of City Council member, District 3, in the June 6, 2006 General Municipal Election. <br /> <br />On March 6, 2006, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2006-008, an Ordinance <br />Establishing Procedures for the Conduct of Run-Off Elections.
