December 18, 2006

Speed Limits

3

The increase of 10 mph from 30 mph to 40 mph on Marina Boulevard between Alvarado Street
and San Leandro Boulevard is not an actual increase. This street segment was inappropriately
attached to its adjacent street segment between San Leandro Boulevard and Washington
Boulevard with a slower 30 mph speed limit.

Reasonable, legitimate speed limits can encourage safe traffic flows and are cnforceable by radar
or other electronic speed measuring devices. Staff recommends that the Citywide roadway speed
limits listed in Attachment A be adopted by the City Council.

Current City Council Policy

.
